Sheila was born in Wilmington Delaware and grew up in Arizona, Connecticut and California. Dr. Steinbrg has been a member of Rotary International since 1998 where she joined her first Rotary Club in Silver City, New Mexico where she had her first full-time teaching job.  Her passion is education and helping under served communities.

Dr. Steinberg served in the United States Peace Corps for 2 years and 5 months in Guatemala. She got her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and Communication Studies from UCSB, her Master’s of Science from University California Berkeley in Wildland Resource Science and her PhD from The Pennsylvania State University in Rural Sociology. She has co-authored three textbooks and is currently finishing up her fourth on resilient communities.

Steinberg is committed to Rotary because she loves the international focus and helping behavior of Rotarians. “Rotary sees the big picture and tries to help people and communities around the world and I like being part of that!”
